Diagnostics & The Adjustment

Postural Assessment & Diagnostic Tracking
True correction cannot be done without accurate measurement. The first step in NUCCA care is to identify the exact nature of the misalignment. We may take X-rays to evaluate any severe conditions or red flags when necessary.
We perform a postural assessment and measure your leg length, as these objective markers serve as key indicators of upper cervical misalignment.
All of these measurements form the blueprint for a patient-specific adjustment. Without this meticulous evaluation, a true corrective adjustment cannot occur.
When the atlas shifts, reflex muscle contractions tilt the head, elevate one hip, and create functional leg length inequalities.
• Pelvic leveling balance
• Leg-length discrepancy measurements
• Bilateral weight distribution & spinal tilt
The Adjustment: Gentle, Precise, and Highly Controlled
Once the misalignment is analyzed and mapped, the adjustment is performed. NUCCA adjustments are unlike traditional chiropractic manipulations. There is no twisting, cracking, or popping of the neck.
Instead, the correction involves a carefully calculated and gentle application of force to the neck—often described by patients as subtle or barely noticeable.
The adjustment is performed while the patient lies comfortably on their side.
The doctor uses light pressure to move the atlas in the exact direction needed, guided by the measurements that are done prior to the adjustment.
This allows the correction to occur without exceeding the body’s natural resistance, making it safe, comfortable, and highly effective.
The procedure requires a deep understanding of biomechanics, spinal mechanics, and the nervous system. It is a delicate art and science combined. While the adjustment is gentle, it requires exceptional skill, timing, and anatomical understanding—no two adjustments are the same.
